Snowmobilers Encouraged to Join Clubs for 2012 Season
$25 membership provides benefits to both members and clubs

PINE BUSH, NY – Snow has begun to fall in parts of New York State, and many riders will soon begin taking their first rides of the season.  Snowmobilers should not wait until trails are declared open to join their local New York State Snowmobile Association (NYSSA) club for the 2012 season.

“Now is the time for our members to renew their 2012 membership to the snowmobile club of their choice, as well as supporting other clubs wherever they ride most,” said Dominic Jacangelo, Executive Director of NYSSA.  “All memberships registered for the 2012 season are good through August 2012.  In addition to membership dues, the small snowmobile registration fee riders pay goes a long way in partially reimbursing clubs to maintain the trails for a safe and successful snowmobile season.”

By joining a club, members will save money on their snowmobile registration and receive a wide variety of member benefits from local and national sponsors.  NYSSA and its local clubs partner with local businesses to ensure services are available to all of its members, giving additional benefits to each paid member.  Clubs are always in need of additional volunteers to run their yearly endeavors as well.  From fundraisers to trail work and grooming, it’s the club volunteers that maintain the more than 10,500 miles of snowmobile trails that New York State has to offer.  NYSSA invites club members to become more involved with their club and “their sport”.

All riders are reminded to reach out to local clubs before taking their first ride of the season.  Due to the destruction caused by Tropical Storms Irene and Lee this past summer, some trails were washed out in the eastern New York and Adirondack regions.  Also, recent heavy rain and high winds cause trail conditions to be very inconsistent. Be alert to such changed on those first rides to any area.
